Pelosi Predicts Democratic Comeback in 2026, Endorses Jeffries as Future Speaker

Speaking at the Voters of Tomorrow summit on Thursday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed strong confidence that Democrats will retake control of the House in the 2026 midterms. Addressing a Gen Z-focused crowd, Pelosi declared, “We have no doubt that we will win,” prompting applause from attendees.

The longtime California congresswoman also threw her support behind current House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, predicting he would rise to Speaker if Democrats reclaim the majority.

Drawing comparisons to past Democratic victories in 2006 and 2018, Pelosi emphasized early preparation, strategic messaging, and robust fundraising as key components for success. “The year before the election is when the troops line up,” she said, stressing the importance of infrastructure and candidate readiness.

Pelosi also took aim at Donald Trump, labeling his current approval ratings “terrible” and identifying the reduction of his poll numbers as a strategic goal heading into 2026. “By October… we’ll have taken what’s his name’s numbers down,” she quipped, intentionally avoiding Trump’s name.

According to a recent Fox News poll, Trump currently holds a 46% approval rating, with 54% disapproval—an improvement from the 41% approval he held at this point in 2016.

The summit also featured appearances from key Democratic figures, including Vice President Kamala Harris (virtually), Reps. Ro Khanna and Jamie Raskin, and activist David Hogg. Though Pelosi stepped down from Democratic leadership after the 2022 midterms, she remains active in the party’s political strategy and continues to be a prominent voice on the national stage.
