Lionsgate and Saber Interactive Reveal John Wick AAA Game Set Before the Impossible Task

Keanu Reeves is officially back as John Wick—and this time, you’re in control.

Lionsgate and Saber Interactive revealed the AAA title during Sony’s State of Play Showcase on February 12, 2026, confirming the game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC . The single-player third-person action game features Reeves reprising his role with full voice, likeness, and motion capture involvement, alongside franchise director Chad Stahelski overseeing production .

The game’s story takes place years before the Impossible Task—a pivotal event referenced throughout the film series but never shown on screen. This unexplored timeline will feature both familiar faces from the franchise and brand-new characters created exclusively for the game, expanding the lore of The High Table and the assassin underworld.

Fast Facts:

  • Developer: Saber Interactive (Space Marine 2 studio)
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
  • Timeline: Set before the Impossible Task
  • Franchise Value: Over $1 billion worldwide box office
  • Saber’s Track Record: Space Marine 2 sold 7 million units in its first year
  • Rating: Mature audiences

Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate, emphasized the collaboration: “We are working closely with Saber’s dedicated team to develop a game that captures the unparalleled action, brand-defining fight choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films”.

Saber promises “gun-fu” combat mechanics built from scratch, jaw-dropping camerawork, intense driving sequences, and atmospherically immersive neo-noir environments. Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive, called it “a true collaboration to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA game”.

Why It Matters

This is the most ambitious John Wick game ever attempted. Saber Interactive—fresh off Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2‘s Game Awards nominations and 7 million copies sold—is applying its action pedigree to a franchise that’s generated over $1 billion theatrically. With Reeves and Stahelski directly involved, the game represents the deepest Hollywood-gaming collaboration to date, potentially setting a new benchmark for cinematic IP adaptations in interactive media.
