After more than three decades, Martin Scorsese’s legendary mafia classic makes its explosive return. GoodFellas 2: The Family Returns is set to premiere worldwide in December 2026, exclusively in theaters before streaming on Netflix in early 2027.
The trailer opens with grainy footage of New York in the 1990s. An older Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro) steps out of the shadows, his voice narrating: “They thought we were finished. But the family never dies.” Cut to a younger generation—Leonardo DiCaprio as Vincent, Jimmy’s ambitious protégé, flanked by a fiery enforcer played by Tom Hardy. Together, they reignite the mob’s legacy, blending old-school loyalty with a new wave of ruthless ambition.
The tension escalates when Al Pacino appears as Salvatore Romano, a rival boss who declares war on the Conway crew. Margot Robbie brings intensity as Maria, a mafia wife who takes control after tragedy, while Oscar Isaac portrays an FBI agent determined to dismantle the family once and for all. Explosions, gunfights, and dimly lit club meetings fill the screen as Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter blasts in the background, echoing the spirit of the original film.
The movie is said to carry a production budget of $150 million, making it one of the most ambitious gangster films ever attempted. Netflix and Warner Bros. jointly finance the project, betting big on nostalgia and Scorsese’s name to drive global success. Insiders predict a box office return exceeding $800 million, with streaming numbers projected to break records within weeks of release.
Critics are already buzzing, calling the film “The Godfather of a new era.” With Scorsese rumored to return as executive producer and long-time collaborators behind the camera, GoodFellas 2 promises to honor the original while carving out a fresh, violent, and emotional legacy.
The final shot of the trailer shows De Niro and DiCaprio standing side by side, staring down their enemies. The screen cuts to black:
