In a statement released Sunday, Munson Healthcare, the largest medical network in northern Michigan, confirmed that seven patients remain in fair condition, while four are still listed as serious. The hospital did not immediately disclose the victims’ ages but noted that their conditions had shown improvement over the previous 12 hours.

“Our teams of doctors, surgeons, nurses, and support staff have worked tirelessly,” the statement read, praising the medical professionals for their swift, compassionate response. “Their dedication reflects the heart of our healthcare system.”

Meanwhile, questions remain about the 42-year-old suspect, who was swiftly apprehended at the scene. Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea confirmed that the attacker acted alone, entering the Traverse City Walmart with a folding knife and stabbing multiple people before being subdued — with help from civilians inside the store.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity, though Shea said the man “appears to be a Michigan resident” and declined to offer more specifics.

Local resident Tiffany DeFell, 36, who witnessed the aftermath from the parking lot, told the Associated Press, “It was terrifying. Me and my sister didn’t know what to do… It felt like something out of a movie — not real life, not here.”
